London, Aug 1 (Inditop.com) Pop legend Michael Jackson thought his acclaimed album “Bad” was a failure because it didn’t match the sales of “Thriller”, his friend and collaborator Quincy Jones says.
“He sold 25 million copies of ‘Bad’. That’s a lot of records. But Michael wanted to sell 100 million. In his bathroom he had written ‘100 million’ on the mirror with lipstick,” contactmusic.com quoted Jones as saying.
The pop icon who died of a suspected cardiac arrest last month was unhappy the album failed to match the success of its predecessor “Thriller” despite selling over 25 million copies.
Jones, who produced Michael’s three biggest albums – “Off the Wall”, “Thriller” and “Bad” – said that Jackson was very inventive and experimental.
“Every city I go to, at midnight, I hear his songs like ‘Billie Jean’, ‘Wanna be starting something’. His music is still dominant. It is astounding,” he added.
