Former THE CLASH star MICK JONES has teamed up with the son of British blues legend JOHN MAYALL to record a new RONNIE BIGGS tribute celebrating the Great Train Robber’s release from prison.

The duo originally recorded the track Ronnie Biggs with fellow train robber Bruce Reynolds’ son Nick and actor Dudley Sutton as a protest to the way Biggs was being treated behind bars.

Reynolds, who also performs with Alabama 3, tells Mojo magazine, “The guy (Biggs) had a broken back and pneumonia.”

Biggs was granted a pardon on “compassionate grounds” on his 80th birthday (07Aug09).
