MADONNA has proved her status as the Queen of Pop – her Sticky & Sweet world tour is officially the highest-grossing roadshow ever for a solo artist.

The Material Girl wrapped up her trek in Tel Aviv, Israel on Wednesday (02Sep09), ending a mammoth run of gigs for the 51 year old.

But her efforts have paid off – according to promoters Live Nation, Madonna has raked in $408 million (£272 million) since kicking off the jaunt last August (08).

The Sticky & Sweet tour surpasses Madonna’s own record for the most successful outing by a solo artist – her 2006 Confessions Tour grossed $194 million (£129.3 million).

But the pop superstar still has some way to go before she can steal the honour of the highest grossing tour of all time – The Rolling Stones’ A Bigger Bang tour pulled in $558 million (£372 million) between 2005 and 2007.
