New York/Los Angeles, May 19 (DPA) Marilyn Monroe’s famous long, strapless pink satin gown that wowed audiences in 1953’s “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” is headed for sale in June, the Profiles in History auction house says.

The dress that the late actress wore to sing “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” could fetch up to $250,000, the auction house said. There was no mention of the long pink gloves she wore in the scene.

The auction from June 10-12 will also offer the Wicked Witch of the West’s hat from 1939’s “Wizard of Oz”, Johnny Depp’s Scissorhands from 1990’s “Edward Scissorhands” and Darth Vader’s light sabre from 1983’s “Return of the Jedi”.

Elvis Presley’s clothing and a guitar and Steve McQueen’s shotgun from “The Magnificent Seven” are also on the block.

Monroe’s dress is projected as the most expensive item, Profiles said earlier this month. In 1999, the form-fitting sequined dress Monroe wore to sing a sexy Happy Birthday to then-president John F Kennedy in 1962 fetched $1.3 million.

The two of them allegedly had an affair.
