Prices for plots at the star-studded cemetery where MICHAEL JACKSON was buried last week (03Sep09) have soared, as fans scramble to secure themselves a place close to their idol.

The King of Pop, who passed away in June (09), was finally interred at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California last Thursday in front of 200 of his closest friends and family.

Jackson has been laid to rest in The Great Mausoleum, close to Hollywood legends including Walt Disney, Clark Gable and Jean Harlow.

Now some of his fans are vying for a place in the burial ground, with demand pushing prices for plots up from $7,000 (£4,400) to $9,000 (£6,200).

A representative for the cemetery tells TMZ.com, “When a high-profile person comes in, it can affect the prices of the surrounding plots.”
