DAVE MATTHEWS has been forced to cancel a gig in Utah on Tuesday night (01Sep09) after straining his vocal chords.

The star and his band are mid-way through an 18-date trek across the U.S. and headlined the Outside Lands music festival in San Francisco, California on Saturday night (29Aug09).

But the tour has taken its toll on Matthews’ voice and doctors have ordered him to rest.

The show at the USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley City has been postponed, with fans instructed to await rescheduling news.

A statement on Matthews’ website reads, “Regretfully, the September 1st performance at USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley City, UT has been postponed due to doctor-diagnosed strain on Dave Matthews’ vocal chords.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. At this time all other performances will continue as scheduled.”
