Pop legends ABBA will never get back together, according to singer BJORN ULVAEUS – because fans would be disappointed with their efforts

The Swedish group enjoyed worldwide success throughout their 1970s heyday before splitting up in 1982.

All four members have since avoided a reunion, although they met up at the premiere of Abba-themed musical movie Mamma Mia! last year (08).

Male group members Benny Andersson and Ulvaeus have recently co-written a song for Swedish star Helen Sjoholm’s new album – the first they’ve created together in 15 years.

But any hopes of the Waterloo hitmakers performing together again have been dismissed by Ulvaeus, because he fears they are now too old to sing their upbeat tracks well enough.

He says, “The reason is it would disappoint so many fans. People think they would love it but they remember us how we were – young, energetic people in colourful costumes. If we were to come out on stage now we’d look like a cover band, only much older. That would destroy so many memories for people.”
