Late country star TAMMY WYNETTE will be posthumously honoured for her contribution to music – she is to be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in Tennessee.

The singer/songwriter, who died in 1998, dominated the country charts throughout the 1960s and early 1970s and is best remembered for her hit single Stand By Your Man.

Wynette, already a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, will be honoured at a ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee on 18 October (09).

Other stars to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame include Mark Sanders, who wrote Lee Ann Womack’s I Hope You Dance, Kye Fleming, who penned Ronnie Milsap’s Smoky Mountain Rain, and beloved country star Barbara Mandrell.
