Mumbai, Sep 30 (IANS) Eleven children Sunday suffered burns while they set a garbage dump on fire here out of mischief, police said.

All 11 children, aged between 8 and 13 years, have suffered 10-20 percent burns.
According to witnesses, a few children were playing on the street and they set a garbage dump on fire in Kurla in central Mumbai. While residents of the area panicked and tried to douse the flames with water, some of them sustained burn injuries.
“Teams from the fire brigade and the BDDS (bomb detection and disposal squad) were sent to the spot. However, on the spot, only the remains of the burnt waste and a blown up container of an anti-rust chemical were found,” said Deputy Police Commissioner Dhananjay Kulkarni.
“It appears that the minors got injured as the flammable container blew off,” he added.
