Agartala, Jan 10 (IANS) The intense cold wave conditions continued its tight grip over Tripura Thursday and the state capital Agartala recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the last four decades, the weather office here said.
Agartala and adjoining areas Thursday recorded a low of 3.3 degrees Celsius — the lowest since 1972, India Meteorological Department director Dilip Saha told IANS.
The lowest minimum temperature of two degrees Celsius was recorded in Agartala Dec 30, 1972.
“The prevailing chilly weather is due to the unusually cold northerly winds. However, there would be some respite from the unusual chill within two to three days,” Saha said.
