New Delhi, Dec 5 (IANS) Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said Monday the government is likely to call an all-party meeting to end the parliament stalemate over the issue of foreign equity (FDI) in retail.
‘We will hold an all party meet soon. We want the parliament to function and conduct legislative business,’ Bansal told NDTV news channel.
He said nine days of the winter session have been lost due to the continuing logjam, first on prices and then on FDI in retail, and only 12 remain. The session started Nov 22 and will end Dec 22.
Bansal said there are important bills to be taken up by parliament.
The demand for an all-party meet came from Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, who spoke to leader of the house and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee Monday morning.
