Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 2 (IANS) Posting vulgar remarks against his female batchmates on the popular social networking site Facebook has landed a final year student of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi district in trouble.
The university administration not only suspended Gaurav Ranjan for three months, but also debarred this native of Jharkhand from taking admission to any other course in the BHU in future.
‘The disciplinary action against Gaurav was taken after completion of the enquiry on the complaint registered by his two female batchmates in October,’ BHU spokesperson Rajesh Singh told reporters Thursday in Varanasi, some 300 km from Lucknow.
According to officials, Ranjan was troubling the two girl students by not only posting vulgar comments about them on Facebook, but by also sending them obscene SMSes.
‘More stringent action would be taken against him if he indulges in any misconduct during the three months. We will also prevent him from availing the residential facilities being offered by the BHU. It means the varsity administration will also end all his hostel privileges,’ said Singh.
