New Delhi, July 1 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sudhanshu Mittal, who also runs a marquee business in Delhi, was Friday quizzed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Friday for alleged irregularities in procurements for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, an agency official said.
This was the second time in the last three days the BJP leader was called for questioning.
Mittal, a close associate of former BJP president Rajnath Singh and the late Pramod Mahajan, was also questioned on Wednesday.
‘Mittal came to the CBI headquarters at around 4 p.m. and the questioning is still on,’ said the official at 7 p.m.
Mittal and his nephew Vinay Mittal are connected with Deepali Consortium, which was awarded a contract for the mega sporting event in October 2010.
PICO International and Deepali Designs, where Mittal serves as director and his relatives are stakeholders, had bagged contracts worth about Rs.230 crore.
After Mittal became a director at Deepali Designs in February 2010, the company won a massive contract to supply treadmills, chairs, umbrellas and other equipment, referred to as overlays.
The CBI had also raided his home last year.
