Mumbai, Dec 29 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has busted a racket in recruitment for technical jobs at the Varangaon Ordnance Factory, involving a couple of union leaders and factory officials, an official said here Thursday.

Two prime accused, union leaders K.R. Medhe and P.R. Kolhe, in connivance with the officials of the ordnance factory in Jalgaon district, helped candidates clear their medical and trade tests for securing technical jobs as electro-plater, millwright and grinder, etc., according to the agency.

A decoy CBI officer, posing as a candidate contacted Medhe and Kolhe who promised to help him clear the relevant tests for a bribe of Rs.250,000.

After laying a trap, the duo was caught red-handed with the advance token amount of Rs.5,000 paid by the CBI decoy.

While Medhe was arrested Wednesday, Kolhe was nabbed Thurday and both were presented before a special CBI court which sent them to police custody till Jan 7, 2012.

Meanwhile, the CBI is continuing searches at the residences and other locations of the two accused union leaders.

The practical and medical tests follow a written test and form an important component of the selection process for various technical jobs at the ordnance factory.
