Hyderabad, July 29 (IANS) Continuing its probe into the assets of YSR Congress party chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Friday issued notices to six more companies which allegedly made investments into his businesses.
The CBI officials have asked the firms to send their representatives to the CBI office and also submit all documents including bank statements and income tax returns.
The agency had Thursday served notices on two firms to provide all the details of their investments into Jagati Publications and Indira Television, owned by Jagan, the MP from Kadapa.
Jagathi Publications publishes Telugu daily ‘Sakshi’ while Indira Television is the broadcaster of ‘Sakshi’ television channel.
The agency has questioned 25 companies regarding the huge investments they allegedly made in Jagan’s firms, in return for favours they reportedly got or hoped to get from his father and then chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Representatives of Sandur Power and Jananai Infra Friday appeared before CBI officers to answer their queries.
The CBI, which will continue its probe Saturday and Sunday, is expected to submit an additional report to the Andhra Pradesh High Court Monday.
The CBI, which submitted a preliminary report July 26, had sought some more time to fill some gaps. The court gave the CBI time till Aug 1.
The court had earlier directed the CBI to conduct the preliminary investigation into Jagan’s alleged illegal assets on writ petitions, including a letter written to the court by Textile Minister P. Shankar Rao when he was still a member of legislative assembly.
TDP leader K. Yerran Naidu and a lawyer from Kadapa also filed petitions demanding a CBI probe.
Dealing with the same petitions, the court had asked CBI to conduct preliminary probe into the alleged irregularities committed by Dubai-based Emaar in its township project in Hyderabad.
Emaar allegedly brought down the stake of the state government in the joint venture, causing huge losses to the exchequer. The CBI has submitted its preliminary report on Emaar to the court.
