Chandigarh, Dec 1 (IANS) Failing to get any breakthrough in the sensational murder of a 22-year-old management student here, Chandigarh Police Wednesday announced a reward of Rs.100,000 for anyone providing information that leads to the arrest of the accused.
Neha Ahlawat was found killed July 30 this year near a taxi stand in Sector 38 (west) here. She was physically abused by her attacker before the murder, police said.
Neha, who went missing July 29, resided in the same sector with her family. Her Activa scooter was found parked at some distance from the crime spot.
The south division police after failing to get any clue in the case transferred the case to the Crime Branch but to no avail. Police also traced Neha’s lost mobile phone and questioned her friends and classmates, but failed to get any breakthrough.
‘About Rs.100,000 will be given to anyone who will provide us any clue leading to the arrest of the murderer in this case. It rained heavily during the night when this incident happened, and many clues were washed away,’ a police official said.
‘We rounded up five-six men in connection with this case, but freed them after questioning. We suspect that it is the handiwork of some drug-addicts,’ the official added.
