Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 29 (IANS) Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Thursday called upon the Kerala diaspora to lend their support to make ‘Emerging Kerala 2012’ — a state sponsored mega investors meet to be held in September — a success.
He made the call while inaugurating the two-day Global NRK Meet 2011 here.
‘It is the Non-Resident Keralite’s (NRKs) who can play an active role in promoting this mega event. You have to play the role of an ambassador of the state to promote Kerala to the world,’ said Chandy
‘It is you who first see the development that takes place in your place and you should know how this development, if it takes place in our state, would benefit people here,’ he said.
State Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said: ‘This time we will develop projects where NRKs can invest… The biggest feature of this is that even the ordinary NRK can invest by way of equity.’
‘Among the likely projects that would be showcased for the diaspora would be ports and major development projects, especially infrastructure ones,’ said Kunhalikutty.
Representatives of numerous NRK organisations from various countries, especially from the Middle East region, are taking part in the two-day meeting.
