Chennai, Dec 29 (IANS) The Chennai police will seek the help of the courts if Lalit Modi, suspended commissioner of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and six others fail to appear in response to the summons issued, said an official Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters, Chennai Police Commissioner T. Rajendran said the Central Crime Branch (CCB) is probing the complaint lodged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) charging Modi and six others of misappropriating around Rs.468 crore.
According to Rajendran, the summons have been sent to Modi and others Dec 27 through Speed Post.
The city police have issued the summons after studying the replies given by the BCCI to a questionnaire sent to it in October.
