Raipur, Sep 2 (IANS) Chhattisgarh’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has been working on a Lok Seva Guarantee Act to ensure that basic public work and applications are disposed of within a stipulated time-period, official sources said Friday.

‘Government is fast working on a draft paper of the Lok Seva Guarantee Act that will ensure that all public works such as driving licence, ration cards, caste certificates and applications related to government departments are disposed of in a time-bound manner,’ the source added.

He said that there will be provision under the Act for punishment to officials concerned if the application is not disposed of in the time stipulated.

The government is also considering bringing in the relevant bill in the ongoing Monsoon session of the state assembly that concludes Sep 10.

Meanwhile, Congress leader and former chief minister Ajit Jogi has advised the government to ‘consult all political parties and legal experts in process of finalising the draft’.

Jogi said that all state departments were mired in corruption and routine public work had come to a halt for want of will.
