New Delhi, Jan 1 (IANS) It was a nippy and clear day in the capital Saturday as the city ushered in the New Year after night-long festivities by merry-makers. The maximum temperature was below the average and the met office has predicted colder days ahead.
The first day of 2011 saw a cold breeze blowing in the morning. The skies were clear during the day.
‘The rains have brought in a chilly breeze,’ said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here.
‘Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 16.7 degrees Celsius, four notches below the average and a minimum of 8.4 degrees Celsius, a notch above the average for this time of the season,’ the official said.
The humidity levels oscillated between a high of 95 percent and a low of 60 percent, added the official.
According to the weather office, Sunday would be a clear day with chilly and foggy mornings and evening.
‘There will be mist in the morning but the day would be sunny and clear. The maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 17 and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively,’ the official added.
