Lucknow, Aug 4 (IANS) A Class 11 student was Wednesday found dead under mysterious circumstances near the swimming pool of Lucknow’s Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, police said.
Faiz Alam, a resident of Lucknow’s Indira Nagar locality, was found dead outside the swimming pool of the college that has trained several sports personalities, including cricket stars Suresh Raina and R.P. Singh.
‘As the body of Faiz Alam bears injury marks, we definitely cannot rule out foul play behind the death,’ Virendra Kumar, deputy superintendent of police, told reporters here.
‘Moreover, it’s highly unlikely that the student died of drowning as his body was found outside the swimming pool,’ he added.
According to the police, even as the exact reason behind the death could only be ascertained in the awaited autopsy report, they would also probe the ragging angle behind the incident.
Significantly, Alam’s mother Shaheen Banu alleged that her son was killed by some college students only.
According to the police, Alam was last seen Wednesday morning during cricket practice. However, he did not turn up to attend his academic classes in the sports college.
