Chandigarh, Jan 23 (Inditop.com) After braving foggy weather and bone-chilling cold for the last five days, residents of Chandigarh got some relief as sun shone brightly Saturday.

“Though we also had fog today (Saturday) during early hours but it was almost cleared in Chandigarh and its neighbouring towns by 7 a.m. that was followed by a bright sunshine. This sunshine is also expected to increase the day’s temperature whereas the night temperature will remain stable,” a met official said here.

However, there was no respite from fog in most parts of Punjab and Haryana Saturday.

Amritsar was the coldest city in the region with a minimum temperature of minus 0.8 degree Celsius, five degrees below average.

Ludhiana and Patiala registered lows of 5.2 and 5 degrees Celsius respectively.

Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 5.1 degrees Celsius, one degrees below average.

Haryana also saw a substantial dip in mercury where Ambala recorded a minimum temperature of 2.8 degrees Celsius, four degrees below average.

Karnal recorded a low of 4 degrees Celsius that was three degrees below average and Hisar recorded a minimum of 5.8 degrees Celsius.
