Shimla, Jan 23 (Inditop.com) The mercury rose marginally in the upper slopes of the Himalayas Saturday due to cloudy skies, the weatherman said here. There was fresh snowfall too.
“Temperatures increased in the state due to fresh snowfall in the high hills of Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu and Chamba in the past 24 hours,” a met office spokesperson said. Clouds trapped heat near the earth’s surface.
Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti district, and Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded minimum temperatures of minus 8.4 degrees and minus 3.7 degrees Celsius respectively, as against lows of minus 9.6 degrees and minus 3 degrees Celsius Friday.
But Shimla saw a fall in night temperature. It recorded a low of 5.6 degrees Celsius, a decline of 1.2 degrees from Friday.
Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a low of 1.6 degrees while it was 1.9 degrees in Bhuntar in Kullu district and 6.1 degrees Celsius in Dharamsala.
