Shimla, Jan 3 (Inditop.com) In contrast to the harsh weather conditions in other northern states, the cold wave eased off in Himachal Pradesh giving way to a pleasant day.

“The cold wave receded in the state this (Sunday) morning with a rise in the minimum temperatures. However, rain and snowfall are likely in the next 24 hours with western disturbances approaching the region,” Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office, said.

Shimla recorded a minimum of 7.1 degrees Celsius, a rise of 0.5 degrees from Saturday. On Friday, the city saw a low of 4.2 degrees Celsius.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded a rise in the night temperature. It rose by 3.5 degrees from Saturday’s minus 11.8 degrees Celsius.

The picturesque town of Kalpa in Kinnaur district witnessed a minimum of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius, a rise of 1.6 degrees from Saturday.

The night temperature was 7.1 degrees Celsius at Sundernagar in Mandi district, 7 degrees at Bhuntar in Kullu and 5.5 degrees at Dharamsala in Kangra district.

On Saturday, these towns recorded lows of minus 1 degree, minus 1.4 degrees and 3.1 degrees Celsius, respectively.
