New Delhi, Aug 14 (IANS) A couple was injured Saturday when a building collapsed in central Delhi, a fire official said.

‘The incident took place around 2 p.m. near the Ramakrishna Ashram area. It was an old residential building which collapsed due to heavy rain. Also, there was some construction going on in its first floor,’ the official added.

The victims have been identified as Swatantra Pal Singh, 30 and his wife Manjit Kaur, 28.

‘They were sleeping at the time of the incident on the second floor of the building,’ a police official said.

Both were taken to Lady Hardinge Hospital with limb injuries. Their condition is said to be stable.

‘Singh had a leg injury while Kaur sustained severe scratches,’ the police official added.
