New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) Delhi Police personnel have not been able to trace, in West Bengal, the kin of the maid who died while working at the home of a Bahujan Samaj Party MP in the national capital. Earlier, the woman’s son went missing.
A team of Delhi Police was sent to West Bengal after Shehzan, the 21-year-old son of the dead maid, Rakhi, went missing from outside the Chanakyapuri police station Thursday night.
Police found the family home in West Bengal’s 24-Parganas district bolted from outside. Shehzan’s mobile was switched off.
Sources said the police team reached the West Bengal home of the maid Saturday, but could not locate her husband or other members of her family.
The team is still camping in the state, and has sought the help of local police.
The body of 38-year-old Rakhi was found Monday evening inside the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) parliamentarian Dhananjay Singh’s house, with several wounds on her body.
Police arrested Dhananjay and his wife, Jagriti Singh, a dentist at a government hospital, in connection with their maid’s murder.
The post-mortem examination on Rakhi’s body was conducted Friday at the Lady Hardinge Medical College and Hospital here, and the body is preserved in a mortuary of the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.
“The postmortem report will come on Monday,” an officer said.
Police had reportedly found that Rakhi and her family were citizens of Bangladesh and shifted to West Bengal some years back. Rakhi came to Delhi for work through a placement agency, and the agent who brought her here, Dev Kumar, is now on the run.
According to police, Shehzan came to Delhi Thursday to take the body his mother after the post-mortem examination. He told police that he had never talked with his mother since she came to Delhi 10 months ago.
