New Delhi, Nov 8 (IANS) Delhi Police have solved the Aug 2 case of the heist of the ATM cash van, in which Rs.39 lakh went missing, and arrested an inter-state robber who had a bounty of Rs.50,000 on his head, police said Friday.
Harun Pasha, 37, alias Salim, was arrested from east Delhi’s Anand Vihar area Wednesday on a tip-off, police said Friday.
Pasha was involved in 16 cases of attempt to murder, robbery, extortion, violations of the Arms Act, and thefts in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, and had masterminded the east Delhi’s M.S. Park cash replenishment van robbery case, police said.
“The accused, along with his associates Nazim, Azim and Masroor, had robbed Rs.39 lakh from the cash transaction van at gunpoint. His three associates were arrested earlier, but he remained at large,” a police officer said.
“The modus operandi of the gang of Harun Pasha is that they steal two-wheelers and four-wheelers and use them to commit highway robberies and other offences. They target rich shop owners carrying huge cash and valuables at gunpoint,” the officer explained.
The officer said that whenever they were arrested, they gave a fictitious identity and fake addresses, so investigating agencies could not track down easily their history of criminality.
