New Delhi, Feb 25 (IANS) The Delhi government has constituted a two-member inquiry commission to probe the alleged sexual abuse of children at an orphanage, the Arya Anathalaya.
The panel has also been entrusted the responsibility of looking into the state of affairs of five children’s homes in the capital.
Headed by two former women IAS officers, Geeta Sagar and Janak Juneja, the commission has been asked to submit its report to the government within a month along with corrective measures and suggestions to curb such incidents in the capital. The terms of reference assigned to the commission also include to study the recent incidents of child abuse and five orphanages’ structure and its supervisory mechanism in existence.
Set up under the section 3, of the Commission of Enquiry Act 1954, it will examine the adherence to various rules and regulations regarding care and protection of children.
The five orphanages of which the state of affairs will be looked into by the panel are; Arya Bal Grih, Arya kanya Sadan, Chhatrawas Chnadra Arya Vidya Mandir, Chandra Arya Vidyalaya and Arya Anathalaya.
