New Delhi, May 2 (IANS) Unable to pay off his debts, a 47-year-old Delhi property dealer attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous substance in a five-star hotel here Monday evening, police Wednesday said.

Ravinder Singh Bawa was found in an unconscious state in a room in New Delhi’s Taj Mahal Hotel around 8.30 p.m. Monday.
He was rushed to Jeevan Nursing Home in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh where his condition is stated to be critical. He continues to be unconscious, police said.
Bawa resides in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area along with his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and two children – a son and a daughter.
A police officer informed that Monday morning, Bawa had asked his creditors to come and collect their dues and had then left his house without informing his family members.

“After finding Bawa’s mobile switched off, his family started searching for him and recovered his Mercedes car outside the hotel where he had booked a room Monday morning,” said the officer.
The official told IANS that after repeated knocks when he did not respond, the hotel staff opened his room with a master key and found him lying on the bed with froth coming out of his mouth.
Some wine bottles were found in the room. There was also a suicide note which said that Bawa was in deep debt and he was taking his own life as he was unable to pay his creditors.
