New Delhi, Dec 21 (Inditop.com) The national capital recorded the season’s coldest day Monday as the temperature dipped to 7.4 degrees in the morning. The Met department has said the mercury may dip further in the coming days.

The weather office attributed the drop in temperature to snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

The minimum of 7.4 degrees Celsius in Delhi was a notch below the normal for this time of the season.

“The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to fall further following snow in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official told IANS.

Visibility dropped to 500 meters around 6.30 a.m. as a shallow layer of fog engulfed the capital. However, no flights were delayed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

The maximum temperature recorded for the day was 22.2 degree Celsius, a degree below the average.

The weather office has forecast the minimum and maximum temperatures Tuesday at around six and 21 degree Celsius.
