New Delhi, May 18 (Inditop.com) There was no respite from the heat for Delhiites Tuesday as the city recorded a maximum temperature of 44.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum touched the highest in the last five years at 32 degrees Celsius, the weatherman said.
“Minimum temperature was recorded at five notches above the average at 32 degrees Celsius,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official told Inditop.
According to the IMD official, the extreme heat is a result of the heat waves sweeping over northern India.
The weatherman predicts no respite soon from the heat. The maximum temperature for Wednesday is forecast to be 43 degrees Celsius while the minimum will be around 30 degrees Celsius.
“The national capital can on Wednesday expect partly cloudy sky with possibility of dust and thunderstorm in some parts of the city,” the official added.
The record breaking minimum temperature came a day after the maximum temperature broke an eight year record. The day temperature Monday was 45.4 degrees Celsius.
