New Delhi, Oct 2 (IANS) The body of a 62-year-old woman was found bound and gagged at her north Delhi flat Tuesday, police said.
Madhu Mehra, a government school teacher, was found strangled in her second-floor apartment in Timarpur in north Delhi around 2.40 p.m., they said.
“Circumstantial evidence suggests that she was murdered Monday a little before she was about to go to bed,” said a police officer.
Mehra lived in Delhi Administration Flats and her name was registered in the Delhi Police’s roster for senior citizens.
A lab assistant who knew the woman called the police after discovering the murder when he went to the flat and found the door open and the living room ransacked.
“It seems to be a case of robbery and murder. But we’re investigating it from all angles,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sindhu Pillai.
