Lucknow, July 29 (Inditop.com) A tame elephant trampled a 20-year-old man to death and injured four others in an Uttar Pradesh village Wednesday, police said.
The elephant attacked the jeep in which the five were sitting in Narhi village of Ballia district, about 300 km from here.
“The jeep was caught in a traffic jam and was standing close to the elephant, which suddenly turned wild. It attacked the vehicle. The driver was killed,” Inspector Anuj Kumar told IANS on phone.
Two of the injured are in critical condition and are being treated at the district hospital in Ballia.
A case has been registered against the owner of the elephant and forest officials have taken possession of the animal.
