Mumbai, Dec 28 (IANS) Doctors attending to Anna Hazare, whose fast entered its second day here Wednesday, have ‘strongly advised’ him to end his hunger strike as it could lead to kidney failure.
‘We strongly advice him to discontinue fasting. We are worried this may lead to kidney failure and further fasting is strongly discouraged,’ said a doctor.
‘His blood pressure is 120/90 but if he stands up, it falls to 105/90 as blood pressure drops on standing. He is running fever, his temperature is 100 degrees (Fahrenheit),’ he said.
As per the doctors, though Hazare’s chest and throat are clear, there is a mild rise in his blood urea nitrogen and creatinine. Further, his sodium and chlorides are low and he is dehydrated.
‘If he continues fasting, it could harm his body in the long run and he needs salts,’ added the doctor.
