Agartala, Jan 29 (IANS) Speeding vehicles have crushed a porcupine, a leopard cat and small Indian civet, all endangered animals, on the Assam-Agartala highway.
“The animals were crossing the highway that passes through the Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary when they were killed Saturday night,” wildlife warden Ajit Bhowmik told reporters Sunday.
The official said in the past one month, over 10 rare animals, including leopard cats, have been killed on the highway.
The sanctuary is home to a zoo that houses 655 animals from 53 species.
