Shimla, May 29 (IANS) Showers in this Himachal Pradesh capital Sunday evening brought down the temperature to comfortable levels, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The day’s high was 24.9 degrees Celsius and the low was 17.2 degrees Celsius, the weather office said here.

Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office here, told IANS that most of the prominent tourist destinations like Kufri, Narkanda, Kalpa, Kasauli, Manali, Chamba, Dharamsala, Palampur and Dalhousie also reported rainfall.

There are reports of hailstorms in some of the areas in Shimla, Mandi and Kullu districts.

‘In the past 24 hours, the maximum temperature increased by three degrees and the minimum by two degrees due to dry conditions in the state. Now, the night temperature is likely to fall by one to two degrees,’ he added.

Kalpa, a picturesque town 250 km from here, recorded a maximum temperature of 22.2 degrees Celsius, while it was 31.4 degrees Celsius in Dharamsala and 33.1 in Bhuntar.

The Met office has forecast more rain and thundershowers in the state from June 1.
