New Delhi, Sep 2 (IANS) Union Minister Farooq Abdullah Friday said the remarks of his son and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on parliament attack convict Afzal Guru were ‘frank and true’.

Farooq Abdullah, union minister for new and renewable energy, said his son had ‘frankly’ tweeted that if the state assembly had passed a resolution like the Tamil Nadu assembly did seeking clemency for the three slated to be hanged in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, the ‘uproar would have been far greater than what has happened in Tami Nadu’.

‘Nobody has even taken a note (of the Tamil Nadu assembly resolution) and had it been Afzal Guru they would have created a ruckus,’ Abdullah told reporters here.

‘He is a young chief minister and I think he should continue to speak what is inside him…time has come when he should speak what is inside him rather hiding it…that is what India needs…India needs truth and you should have the courage to speak truth,’ the elder Abdullah said.
