Ghaziabad, April 20 (IANS) An architect in the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) was Friday caught while accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from an applicant who wanted the map of his house approved, police said.
Applicant Ramesh Tyagi, a retired officer from the ministry of defence, said he was asked for the bribe by architect Pankaj Verma when he contacted him in connection with the map-approval for his son’s residential plot in Indirapuram locality here.
Ramesh Tyagi contacted GDA vice chairman Santosh Tyagi, who agreed to help him nab Verma.
When Ramesh Tyagi came to GDA office Friday to pursue his case, Verma demanded the bribe. The conversation was recorded by Santosh Tyagi, who later nabbed Verma while accepting the bribe of Rs.20,000.
GDA officials called the police who arrested the architect.
