New Delhi, May 25 (IANS) A 51-year-old campaign officer working with the union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside his house Friday afternoon, police said adding that Jagjit Singh Bindra was reportedly depressed over “some official problems”.

The incident took place around 2 p.m. Friday at Pocket-A in east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase II. Bindra was found hanging in his third floor flat by his family members who informed police about it.
“Bindra had been struggling with depression over some official problems for a long time. He has been taking medicine to control his depression. That might be the reason behind his extreme step,” said an investigating official.
“Despite being a senior official, he recently got promotion after 26 years of service but his pay grade was not satisfactory in comparison to his post. That was the main reason behind his depression,” one of the victim’s relatives, who did not wish to be named, told IANS.
The relative also informed that presently Bindra was working with the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) under the information and broadcasting ministry in Delhi and a few days ago, he had been transferred to Dehradun in Uttarakhand.
Bindra is survived by his wife, a 21-year-old son Pawandeep Singh and a daughter Harsha, 17.
