Chandigarh, Dec 28 (IANS) The Haryana education department Wednesday announced a change in the timings for government and private schools in the state due to the prevailing cold wave conditions.
‘In view of the ongoing cold wave in the state, the Haryana education department has decided to change the timing of all government and aided schools in the state,’ state Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal said here Wednesday.
Bhukkal said classes in all schools would now be held from 9 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.
She said all district education officers have been asked to ensure compliance of these orders which would remain effective up to Jan 31.
Hisar was the coldest in Haryana on Wednesday with a low of 1.1 degrees Celsius. Karnal and Ambala also were warmer with minimum temperatures of 5.4 and 5.6 degrees, respectively.
In the last few days, Hisar and Rohtak have hit sub-zero temperatures also.
A number of places in the state have been experiencing thick fog and ground frost in the last 15-20 days.
