Rohtak (Haryana), Aug 31 (IANS) A sub-inspector of the Haryana Police Saturday shot dead his married daughter and then ended his life too by shooting himself from his service revolver at his residence in the state’s Rohtak district, police said.

The incident took place in Sisar Khaas village under the jurisdiction of Meham Police station.
Baljeet Singh, 56, was posted as in-charge of the city police post in Jhajjar town while his daughter Sarita, 25, had been residing at her maternal house for over a year due to strained relationship with her in-laws.
In his suicide note, Baljeet blamed the in-laws of his daughter for his taking the extreme step, said police officials.
Family members of Baljeet were present in the house when the incident took place. On hearing the sound of gunshots, they went to the courtyard where they found Baljeet and Sarita lying in a pool of blood.
Baljeet died on the spot while Sarita succumbed to her injuries at the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak.
Confirming the recovery of suicide note, Rohtak’s Superintendent of Police Rajesh Duggal said the matter would be investigated and a case registered as per preliminary investigation.
