Shimla, Sep 11 (Inditop.com) Himachal Pradesh has ordered closure of all government schools in the state for the next two days due to heavy rainfall across the state, officials said Friday.

“During the past three days, the state has been witnessing heavy rain, triggering landslides and closure of roads. We have decided to close all primary and senior secondary schools in the state as a precautionary measure,” Director of Education, O.P. Sharma told Inditop.

He said if the rain spell continued till Monday, the closure of schools would be extended.

Himachal Pradesh has been experiencing heavy rainfall and moderate snow since Tuesday night.

Shimla has recorded more than 150 mm of rain in the past 48 hours.

Manmohan Singh, Meteorological department director, said the state has experienced the season’s heaviest rain.

“Shimla has so far recorded more than 150 mm rainfall, whereas Pachhad in Sirmaur district saw more than 300 mm of rain,” he said.
