Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 30 (IANS) Central government owned HLL Lifecare Limited, one of the country’s largest producers of condoms, Friday opened a one-stop specialty outlet for medical devices and essential drugs here.
The company, which also produces of contraceptives, blood bags and other healthcare products, has set up the outlet in association with the state Health and Family Welfare Department at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
Under the banner of a ‘Lifecare Centre’, the outlet offers surgical implants, surgical consumables, essential medicines and life-saving drugs.
‘HLL is making this market intervention to ensure transparency and uniformity in the prices of medical devices and drugs…it will also benefit the poor and weaker sections of the society by providing the necessary medical goods under one roof,’ said HLL Chairman-cum-Managing Director M. Ayyappan.
‘Patients are going to benefit hugely because our products are available at half the market prices,’ said an HLL official.
