New Delhi, Jan 7 (IANS) The union home ministry has ordered a probe into allegations by the friend of the Delhi gang-rape victim that police wasted time in squabbling over the jurisdiction issue before taking them to hospital, informed sources said Monday.
The sources said that the probe will also look into the refutation of the friend’s claims by the police.
They said a senior official of the ministry will investigate the allegations made by the man, who told Zee News in an interview that the PCR vans arrived at the scene after about 45 minutes, but wasted time in deciding under which police station’s jurisdiction the case fell.
He had also said that he carried his badly-injured friend to the PCR van on his own as the policemen didn’t help them because the girl was bleeding profusely.
The sources said the probe will also look at the assertion by the police that PCR vans reached the spot within minutes and police teams acted promptly.
The probe is likely to examine the log book and computer records with the police.
The victim, who was a physiotherapy student, was brutally gang-raped and tortured in a moving bus Dec 16 and thrown off on the roadside. She died of her injuries Dec 29 in a Singapore hospital.
