Srinagar, Dec 2 (Inditop.com) The moderate Hurriyat Conference executive led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq met here Wednesday to discuss the differences within the group over the proposed “quiet dialogue” with the central government.

The meet chaired by the Mirwaiz decided to convene a joint meeting of the executive and general council of the Hurriyat Conference Thursday to discuss the issue in detail, informed sources said here.

Wednesday’s meeting followed the recent differences within the moderate separatist conglomerate over the proposed “quiet dialogue” to resolve the Kashmir problem, prompting the Mirwaiz to suspend the office bearers of his group.

Majority of the general council members have been opposed to the dialogue process after media reports said the Mirwaiz and two other executive members, Abdul Gani Bhat and Bilal Gani Lone, had met Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram twice in the past three months.

The Mirwaiz has, however, denied the reports.

A sources in the conglomerate said Wednesday’s meet focussed on “putting the Hurriyat house in order and stand united at this crucial hour”.

“We decided to meet tomorrow (Thursday) again to further discuss the issues,” the source said.
