New Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS) The union home ministry Monday said individuals and organisations keen to share their suggestions on enhancing security of people from the northeast can do so by Feb 28 to a committee set up for the purpose.
The ministry said in a release that it had constituted a committee Feb 5 to look into concerns of people from the northeastern states living in various parts of the country, particularly in metropolitan areas, and suggest suitable remedial measures.
It said the committee has been asked to examine the security concerns and look into the “causes behind the attacks/violence and discrimination”.
People “desirous of sharing thoughts, ideas and suggestions” were asked to do so by Feb 28 by sending these to mpbcomm.northeast@gmail.com or to the ministry’s Member Secretary and Deputy Secretary S. Saha.
Official sources said the committee has been asked to give its report in two months.
