New Delhi, Nov 12 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday offered help to Philippines President Benigno Aquino III in relief and rehabilitation efforts following the destruction caused in the country by Typhoon Haiyan.

Typhoon Haiyan has reportedly killed at least 10,000 people in the Philippines.
Condoling the loss of life in the natural disaster, Manmohan Singh said: “I write to convey to you the deepest condolences of the people of India on the catastrophe caused by Typhoon Haiyan.”
“The scale and severity of the death and destruction caused by the typhoon has saddened and shocked us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the people of the Philippines in this extraordinary moment of grief,” he said.
“While any nation would take time to come to terms with a tragedy of this magnitude, I have full faith in the resilience and resolve of the people of Philippines to quickly rebound from their losses and in the capacity of your government to provide immediate relief to the affected communities and rebuild their lives.”
The prime minister said India stands ready to provide all help to support the relief and rehabilitation efforts of the Philippines government.
“Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration,” he added.
