Patna, Nov 7 (IANS) Security at a jail in Bihar was tightened Thursday after one of the accused in the serial blasts in Patna was shifted there, officials said.
Mohammad Imtiaz Ansari, one of the three suspects arrested in connection with the serial blasts in Patna Oct 27, is being kept in the yoga ward of Saryu block in the Beur Central Jail here.
Imtiaz was caught by a Government Railway Police official when he suspected something was amiss with the man trying to flee after coming out of a toilet at the Patna railway station after a bomb blast. Imtiaz confessed his involvement in the blasts.
Inspector General (prisons) Anand Kishore said security of the Beur jail was beefed up after Imtiaz was brought there.
A jail official said Imtiaz was being kept in a secluded ward to ensure that there was minimum contact between him and other inmates.
Authorities fear that Imtiaz could be attacked by other inmates for his involvement in the blasts.
Six of the seven blasts took place in and around Gandhi Maidan before Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was to address a rally. Six people were killed and 83 injured in the blasts.
