Jammu, July 29 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is likely to hold a meeting Saturday to select the members of the State Accountability Commission (SAC), an anti-graft body lying defunct for the past six years, sources said.
The meeting to select the SAC’s chairman and two members has been postponed twice this year.
While the first meeting Feb 18 was deferred as the ruling coalition partners National Conference and Congress were unable to reach at a consensus on the members’ selection, the second meeting July 18 was cancelled as the chief minister had fever.
Omar is down with viral this time as well, but sources close to him said that he is determined to attend the meeting.
The chief minister himself said on microblogging site Twitter: ‘I’ll go ahead with it this time even if I have to be carried in.’
The meeting, in Srinagar, will also be attended by Leader of Opposition Mehbooba Mufti, the chief justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court and the speaker of the the legislative council.
