Srinagar, Jan 17 (Inditop.com) An intense cold wave continued to sweep the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir Sunday even as the valley remained above the freezing point for the first time in the last 20 days.

“There was no respite from intense cold wave conditions in Leh where the minimum temperature was minus 13.2 degrees Celsius and in Kargil where it was minus 14.2 degrees,” said an official of the weather office here.

“The minimum temperature in Srinagar was 1.4 degrees Celsius Sunday and it was for the first time in last 20 days that the night temperatures did not fall below the freezing point here.

“It was because of the cloud cover during the night that the night temperatures did not fall below zero,” the official said.

Isolated rain and snow has been predicted at some places in the Kashmir valley on Sunday.
